For more than ten years, Casa Mexicana has been many traveler’s first choice when it comes to lodging in Guanajuato. We were among the first to offer a budget hostel with a typically local ambience. Travelers from all over the world have enjoyed this concept.  Over the years a number of other places have opened, however, Casa Mexicana is still the most charming place among hostels in Guanajuato.

 

Casa Mexicana opened its doors in 1994, offering a unique atmosphere to travelers from all over the world who appreciated the wonderful, surprising and unexpected experience; our fame as one of the best places in town wouldn’t have come into existence without their recommendations. The word spread and most of the world’s famous travel guides such as the Rough Guide to Mexico and the Lonely Planet now recommend our hostel.

From the beginning, Casa Mexicana has always offered a distinct and personalized concept, having you, our guests, at the center of our attention. Our aim is to provide a typically local, family run hostel with an international atmosphere. At the hostel, you will meet language students from Escuela Mexicana, the language school associated with the Casa Mexicana. Many students stay for periods up to three months - meeting them and listening to their experiences will certainly enhance your experience of traveling to Guanajuato.

 

Besides being designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, Guanajuato is famous for its cultural events.  Casa Mexicana’s unique location, just 2 minutes away from the center of the city and the Jardin de la Union, enables travelers close access to all the local theatres: Juarez, Cervantes, and Principal.
